Maeve Achter
MAY-veh AWCH-tehr

She was the leader of several centaurian gangs of robbers. She now is the leader of a gang of studnappers. It is the author's note that the two members of her gang, the redheaded centaur, and the raven-haired centaur, are purposefully left without a name, and will never be named.
Cadmus adlp Aescelmann
KAD-mus EH-skehl-mahn
Cadmus is an aescel. He is 8'9'' (2.67 m). He has the same wood as an ash tree, with some ash leaves growing as hair. He also has a green mossy substance as hair on his head and as a beard. He also has that green moss hair growing on his arms. His family is rich, owning an industry where they extract natursten from trees to sell (without aescels, people have to cut down massive trees to see if there is a natursten, but aescels can extract the natursten without cutting down the trees, which in turn allows the trees to continue producing more natursten).
He was engaged to Hyacinth before they broke up due to her constant and excessive cheating. He is 54 years old (23 years old in human years).
Because of his race, he has natural nature magic, just as all aescels do. Also, like other aescels, he has the ability to regenerate, as well as grow his existing limbs and body parts longer at will. However, this ability only lasts as long as the magic he possesses does not run out. He recharges magic through sleeping, standing in the sunlight, and absorbing nutrients from the ground or biowaste.

The Comte and Comtesse govern together, each dividing the political responsibilities of the comte. When Theresa is discovered by a bounty hunter and brought in for the case over custody of Hope, Theresa is married to the centaur man, and pregnant with their first child. Because of her marriage to the centaur man, she is able to retain custody of her daughter. The centaurs also drop all further attempts to claim the child citing that a centaur is already bringing up Hope, so there is no need to reappropriate the child.
