Altruist Military System
Unified Military System
All Altruist countries and territories are a part of their military alliance. The unified military alliance has a system that pulls troops at a rate of half from the country that is directly affected by a conflict, and half from the remaining alliance countries. The troops pulled from the remaining countries are proportional to their eligible population (all individuals ages 16-48 from short-life races, 16-80 for medium-life races, and 25-100 for long-life races).
The Altruist military standard troop formations start with squads, which have five to ten soldiers. Then there are units, which have two to four squads. Platoons or posts (post if at a stationary location, platoon if mobile) have three to eight units and are between 75 to 150 soldiers. Companies have two to five units and battalions have two to three companies or five to ten units. Regiments have two to three battalions, and brigades have two to five regiments or five to ten battalions. Divisions can be comprised of whatever number of companies, battalions, regiments, or brigades necessary for a particular line of attack or defense. Divisions are typically named according to their function and may be dissolved as soon as their function is served.
Troops are not segregated by gender. Troop battalions are typically segregated by country. Even in mixed battalions, squads will always be from the same country. Troops are not typically segregated by race, except when they present a different function. Different function races include winged species, centaurs, aescels, and aquatic races. Sometimes (but not always) digging races are also segregated out. These different function races have their own platoons and companies, or specialized squads or units which are assigned to other battalions.
Mage troops are kept in separate squads or units, attached to typical battalions. Mage troops consist of mages of any race; grand witches/warlocks of nature-magic races; elves; and lampades, nix, non-winged nephele, non-winged sylphs, and half-elves who have a base level of magic combat training. Most battalions have one to two mage troop squads.
