Intuitive Magic

Some races naturally have magic. Some races have the ability to pull magical energy from the environment. Some non-magic people have had their blood switched out to have magic. All of these can use magic intuitively. This means they can use magic by mentally willing it, without the aid of spells or glyphs. People without magic cannot intuitively use magic in magical gems and must use either spells or glyphs.

Races that are naturally magical, or have their blood switched out for magic, replenish their magical energy by eating and sleeping. Races that pull magic from the environment replenish their magic from being near the element specific to their magic (they recharge at the same rates the magical gems replenish magic). It is important to note, that people can only intuitively use the magic of the element they have. For example, if someone has fire magic, they cannot intuitively use water or sun magic, even if they have the corresponding gem. They can only intuitively use the element of the magic they possess.

When races with magic, or people whose blood was switched out for magic, use up all their magic, they pass out. When people who draw magic from the environment use up all their magic, they do not pass out, but simply cannot use magic until they return to their element. Also, the recharging of magic through elements, even when a person is doing it, takes time. About fifteen minutes of exposure per bolt of energy. Persons with magic typically can hold a total of 75 to 300 bolts of energy.
